The actor, who premieres the new Tom Clancy adaptation on Amazon Prime Video today, talks about his career.
Jack Ryan is passed, at least in movies. The new hero of the saga created by Tom Clancy, whose latest installment is already available on Amazon Prime Video, is John Kelly, whom we meet with the faces of Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber in other installments. Now he is embodied by Michael Bakari Jordan (Santa Ana, California, 1987), actor and producer of a work that does not stop growing. He summarizes it for us from his home.
1. Rejection
“I try not to see my first movies and series. It’s not for nothing, but it gives me the creeps. It’s like hearing your recorded voice. I don’t recognize myself, but now I realize that I have come a long way ”.
2. Good harvest
“2018 was an amazing year. I starred in Black Panther, Fahrenheit 451 and Creed II: The Legend of Rocky and we also started to see the results of moving in the right direction to end racial stereotypes. I’m with the change to a thousand percent ”.
3. Doublet
“I think the scale is balanced, in a way. Tom Clancy’s No Regrets is a Paramount and my company Outlier Society production, but with the closing of theaters it went to Amazon Prime Video, with which we have signed an agreement. We have been able to see it on a big screen, in company, but we have won in public around the world ”.
4. Producer on site
“It has been an experience. From the beginning I have been working with the director, Stefano Sollima [Sicario: The Day of the Soldier, 2018] , and the actors, controlling the special effects, building the film. It has been exhausting, but I am happy ”.
5. Objective achieved
“I’ve always been an action junkie, ever since I was a kid and I watched all those wonderful fight movies on TV and I wanted to be the protagonist. In the end I have succeeded ”.
