In volume 2 we focused more on the emotionality of the characters, it is a journey through their sentimental map that connects us directly with the fired”.
The Netflix production started filming for the fifth season on August 3, 2020 in Denmark. Despite the Coronavirus crisis, La casa de papel 5 managed to fulfill its ambitious filming plan, with an international vocation: it began in the Nordic country and later moved to Portugal and Spain. The filming has been longer than in previous seasons, since the fifth installment will consist of 10 chapters of one hour each .

The truth is that the filming has taken longer than expected due to the Coronavirus and the date continues to be a mystery, even for the members themselves. Miguel Ángel Silvestre, undoubtedly the new character that arouses more interest for the final season, spoke about it in a direct on Instagram from Mexico. In it he spoke about certain dubbing sessions of some scenes of himself and Úrsula Coberó in Lisbon that would belong to the previous photos. In it he also confessed that he was a true fan of the series, that he had seen it three times and that what he liked the most was seeing it with his mother.
For now, the last image since the filming of the series was that of Álvaro Morte. Our beloved professor shared with his followers one of his, probably, last hair and makeup sessions to transform himself into a beloved robbery mastermind.
Morte was also in charge of giving us the latest news content of the shoot, its end. At least as far as the Professor is concerned, season 5 of Money Heist, the final denouement, has already finished its filming. With some goodbye and many thanks, the actor shared on Instagram his farewell to a character who has changed his life but who is also already part of the most famous of national fiction, We still do not know what the Professor will hold after his meeting with Inspector Sierra, or if she will have a happy ending with Lisbon. We all hope so. Of course, for now, few know he saved him and the members of the film crew who have already been there that last day.
‘Money Heist 5’: the cast
Along with the news of the start of filming the fifth season came the surprise: the last chapters have two sounded additions, that of Miguel Ángel Silvestre and that of Patrick Criado. His characters are still a mystery.
Given the continuity of the plots with the fourth, we already know that we will see Lisbon (Itziar Ituño), Helsinki (Darko Peric), Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó), Denver (Jaime Lorente), El Profesor (Álvaro Morte), Palermo ( Rodrigo de la Serna), Manila (Belén Cuesta), Arturito (Enrique Arce), Stockholm (Esther Acebo), Río (Miguel Herrán), Marseille (Luka Peros), Antoñanzas (Antonio Romero), Bogotá (Hovik Keuchkerian), to the Colonel Tamayo (Fernando Cayo) and Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri). We will also continue to see Berlin (Pedro Alonso) in flashbacks, in fact he has been the first to post photos on his instagram from Denmark, as well as other actors such as Luka Peros. Of course, the main question here is around the deceased characters. But these last two seasons of La casa de papel have been characterized by those flashbacks that do not stop recovering the characters who died in the first and original two seasons. If Moscow (Paco Tous) and Oslo (Roberto García) have continued to appear in the series as Berlin, we would not be surprised if they did it again in the fifth installment. This means that we don’t have to say goodbye to Nairobi either. It would be very strange if the character of Alba Flores did not have the occasional appearance in the fifth season, even if it is to illustrate the memory of some colleagues who ended the fourth installment exclaiming “For Nairobi!”.
These last 10 chapters of La casa de papel have confirmed that they have three directors, Jesús Colmenar, Koldo Serra and Álex Rodríguez. The rest of the team is made up of Cristina López Ferraz (Production Director and Executive Producer), Javier Gómez Santander (Script Writer), Miguel Amodeo (Director of Photography), Esther Martínez-Lobato (co-producer), and Jesús Colmenar himself also as Executive Producer. What happened in the fourth season of ‘La casa de papel’?
Let’s remember the ending, obviously loaded with spoilers. The professor manages to save Lisbon. Gandía kills Nairobi. Lisbon arrives at the Bank of Spain and Inspector Sierra, turned fugitive, finds the Professor. End. Come on, although the fourth season has had action, drama, and master plans like the most, it is the most incomplete season of all, because it is neither a beginning nor an end. It turns out that it was just a spectacular link between the third and fifth because there has to be a fifth.
Netflix premiered the fourth season in full global confinement with the doubt in the air: was the fourth the last? Obviously, there is no need for official confirmation of the fifth because the plots leave no room for doubt. Although the platform and the creators did not announce it in their day, continue, it will continue. And he will do it because everything has remained in the air. There has been no worthwhile outcome except the death, including burial, of the great Nairobi. But there is still everything else. It remains to be seen what Sierra plans with the Professor, how Tamayo and the Government of the Coup recover, and, above all, how the Dalís plan to leave the Bank of Spain.
‘La casa de papel 5’, what will happen?
As successful as the series is, this cannot be extended any longer. Maybe they’ll come back for another hit, there’s a spin-off, etc. Things that Helsinki (Darko Peric) already told us about. But that will be once the robbery is over, and he hasn’t done it yet. The fifth season has to be the one where the plot that started in the third ends. You know, the plan to rescue Rio that, with so much movement, we don’t even remember why all this started. In other words, the gang has to escape from the Bank of Spain.
Before that, the thing that leaves the cliffhanger with which the fourth season ends the most is the Professor’s plot. While everyone was celebrating after being able to meet with Lisbon, Inspector Sierra stops the character of Álvaro Morte with a “Checkmate bastard”. A fugitive from the police, pregnant, widowed, and self-confessed torturer, Najwa Nimri’s character is more dangerous than ever.
Nobody knows what he’s capable of, not us, not the Professor. But we can think what can happen. The first thing is to ask yourself what Sierra wants. He doesn’t seem like your typical self-sacrificing cop who wants to stop the bad guy against the elements. In fact, even if she did, that would not save her from all the charges she has on her. If he were a more visceral person, we could believe that all he wants is to stop him before he falls, kill his rival for dignity, die killing. But if we know anything about Sierra, it’s that she is colder and more calculating than all that. She can only want one thing from the Professor, a way out that helps her improve her situation, seize the reins by force and destroy everything, both the robbers and the State who are now pursuing her as the only culprit.
We already saw her pull the blanket at the press conference, her only loyalty is to herself. We would be very surprised if someone like her joined the band, like Lisbon and Stockholm, but she may want the Professor’s help to ensure a millionaire escape for herself. After all, she is about to have a child and her other destination is jail. That leads us to think that the Machiavellian mind of Sierra and the Professor form an alliance, with a betrayal kept in the bedroom for each one, of course. Come on, whatever you do together will not be peaceful, or without reservations.
Another option, with which he has played the series many times, is to cut the complications clean. That is to say, that the Serbs or Marseilles arrive in time to save the Professor and capture Alicia Sierra. But let’s get dramatic, after all, we are talking about La casa de papel. Beyond a certain contradictory charisma, the character of Alicia Sierra cannot be pregnant just because she is. And yes, whatever happens before, does Sierra breakwater? What if the Professor has to act as an impromptu matron from Sierra? It sounds crazy, but worse things we have seen in the series.
With the occasional complication due to what happens to Sierra and the Professor, after all, the important thing is what happens at the Bank of Spain. Honestly, if we knew how to steal the gold from the Bank of Spain and escape we would not be here. The important thing is to remember two things that have been repeated over and over again since Berlin came up with the plan. The first is that the goal is gold, which has to be melted 50 tons and removed. Ever since Berlin and Palermo came up with it, the plan was to steal the gold, but escaping with it is impossible. The professor has not said otherwise. But if dating him is impossible, why does Stockholm remind him: “He promised he would get us out of here.”
With some other problem, either by Sierra or the police, the gang only has to finish melting the gold to get to the part of the plan that we still do not know. We know that the Professor and the team know how to get it out. That’s where Palermo comes in, who will have to show his “love of the plan” to redeem himself minimally from helping to free Gandía. It deserves, at the very least, to sacrifice like Berlin on the run so that we can like it again, but we’ll see. The important thing is that, once the gold is melted and with the Professor back at the controls, the series has to reveal that surprising master plan of escape.
We can only hope for one thing. They are already rich, the intention was never to earn more money, but to save Rio. I mean, they don’t want the gold, they need it, but they don’t want it. The loot may be the only possible diversionary maneuver for the gang to escape. In the change will be the key. Also, with the government in the spotlight, we can think that they would not refuse to let the gang escape in exchange for recovering the economic reserves of the entire country.
Another track that has left fans musing theories that are very interesting comes from “Bella Ciao” that is heard at the end of the credits of the final chapter. Many, given Netflix’s habit of moving on to something else as soon as the credits begin, will have missed it. The truth is that the mythical song of the band of thieves is sung by someone very particular, Najwa Nimri. For some this means a victory for Inspector Sierra over the thieves, for others a clear clue that she ends up joining them. Sierra has a lot of character and of course the group does not like him, but let’s remember that jail awaits him for all his scandals, so fleeing with the criminals would not be a bad option. Of course, after torturing Rio and killing Nairobi we still see it difficult.
Another more surprising theory suggests that Sierra could have had some kind of relationship with Berlin that we do not know, a secret bomb that would be revealed at the end of the series and would link her with the bomb. Beyond the fact that they are both passionately violent madmen, there is no particular reason to think this.
