Callum Turner is one of the actors reported to be in the final round of the James Bond casting, and on November 3, 2026, Pierce Brosnan added his voice, calling Turner “so strong in comments reported by TheWrap from a Vanity Fair interview. Amazon MGM Studios has not announced who will play 007, and all the casting details below come from unnamed industry sources.
What is reported about the shortlist
On October 22, TheWrap reported, crediting Deadline with the original scoop, that four actors had reached the final round: Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, Josh O’Connor and a fourth actor whose name has not come out. All four were said to have been offered screen tests, starting that Friday and running into the following week. Jacob Elordi, who had been linked to the part, was reported to be out of contention.
Hypebeast, on October 23, described the same process and said casting director Nina Gold is overseeing auditions for director Denis Villeneuve. It named Turner and Lowden as being in the mix, called them frontrunners in one place and “among the names in the mix in another, and said the studio is widely expected to name its Bond before the end of the year. That last point is the outlet’s expectation, not a studio announcement.

What Brosnan said
According to TheWrap’s account of the Vanity Fair interview, Brosnan, who played Bond in four films, said he is eager to find out who gets the job and that every actor on the list is someone he admires. He said he has worked with Turner and described him as “so strong, and added that any of the remaining candidates would do well, pointing to their voices, physiques and screen presence. He did not say he had inside knowledge of the decision, and the comments are not a casting confirmation.
Who is Callum Turner?
Turner is a British actor. Hypebeast’s report mentions one recent credit, the arthouse film Rosebush Pruning, which he promoted at the Berlin Film Festival earlier in 2026. The same report says that when he was asked about the Bond role there, he declined to discuss it, saying it was too early for that question. Other outlets list his wider filmography, but this article only relies on the credits found in the sources below.
The film behind the casting
Per TheWrap, the 26th Bond film is being made by Amazon MGM Studios, with Denis Villeneuve directing and Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, writing the screenplay. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing after Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson gave up creative control to the studio; they remain co-owners of the franchise. TheWrap says Amazon reportedly paid $20 million for that control, citing its own earlier report. It will be the first Bond film since Daniel Craig’s farewell in No Time to Die (2021).
Neither article gives a release date or a start date for production.
Other names in the story
TheWrap’s Brosnan piece recalls that Gary Oldman, Lowden’s Slow Horses co-star, said in September, in an interview with Global News, that the role had been chosen but not announced, and that he hoped it was Lowden. Hypebeast says Lowden’s momentum came partly from that hint. Oldman’s remark is a comment, not a confirmation, and nobody involved has said who has been chosen.
Confirmed and unconfirmed
- Reported by multiple outlets: final screen tests were set for late October; Turner, Lowden and O’Connor are among the finalists; Villeneuve is directing.
- Unconfirmed: the identity of the fourth finalist, who is the favorite, and when an announcement will happen. Amazon MGM Studios declined to comment in the coverage we read.
Until Amazon makes an announcement, treat every list of finalists as a report, not a result. This page will be worth revisiting if the studio confirms its choice.
